Justyna Wolinska
Research Group Leader (“Disease Evolutionary Ecology”) at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) & Professor for Aquatic Evolutionary Ecology, Freie Universität Berlin
I lead the “Disease Evolutionary Ecology” research group, focused on examining evolutionary and ecological processes mediated by parasitism in aquatic ecosystems. As the deputy Equal Opportunity Officer in our institute, I actively advocate for diversity and inclusion, convinced that these efforts not only enrich our working culture but also enhance the quality of our scientific work. Beyond academia, I am passionate about endurance sports, especially ultra-trail running and lake swimming, culminating in the captivating sport of “Swimrun”: a perfect fusion for an aquatic ecologist and nature enthusiast like myself.
Keynote talk: Unveiling the ecological impact of environmental threats through model organisms
Jana Isanta-Navarro
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at University of Copenhagen, Denmark
I am a passionate limnologist and evolutionary ecologist. My research focuses on human impacts on lake ecosystems, centered around planktonic organisms. It spans various levels of biological organization and complexity, includes molecular, analytical, and conceptual approaches, and covers laboratory, mesocosm as well as field experiments. Of course, Daphnia are my favourite lab pets.
